Our Season opens with one of William Shakespeare’s most popular histories – RICHARD III.

Shakespeare’s delightfully bloody and brutal history of Richard III follows the corrupt path of a twisted man with equally twisted ambitions.

Richard manipulates, marries, and murders his way to the top with unmatched charm and zeal.

Richard III continues the Theatre’s tradition of providing affordable, accessible, and high quality Shakespeare to a downtown audience.

The second selection is a play that many people know of but recently few have been able to experience in Toronto – Peter Schaffer’s EQUUS.

Loosely based on true events, Equus is the moving story of a psychiatrist attempting to treat a young man who has committed a devastating crime.

This modern masterpiece is a disturbing and inspiring examination of personal values and morality in the face of commonly accepted social prejudices.

Recently re-popularized in London’s West End and on Broadway (in a production starring Daniel Radcliff), Equus finally receives a long-awaited revival in Toronto.

After two deep, dark, and serious plays, our third production will surely lighten up your spirits.

Hart House Theatre is thrilled to be able to present another Toronto Premiere of a major Musical.

Based on the film of the same title (starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin), DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS - The Musical is filled with delightful scams, ridiculous plot-twists, and plenty of back-stabbing fun, this Tony-Award winning musical will seduce you with an uncompromising wit, an unforgettable score, and a smorgasbord of devilishly charming and corrupt characters.

Toronto Premiere
YELLOW FACE

March 4-12
produced by Hart House Theatre

Our final selection is yet another Toronto Premiere for the Theatre as David Henry Hwang’s YELLOW FACE.

The Tony Award-winning Asian American dramatist’s work chronicles his own struggle to define racial identity in the mixed-up melting pot of contemporary America.

Part fact, part fiction - provocative yet full of heart; Yellow Face is a tale of cultural politics, family fortunes, and artistic integrity; an insightful look at the pitfalls and promise of our “P.C.” world.
